Homeschool Program at the Youzeum

I just heard that the Youzeum will be having a Homeschool Program twice a month. I am so excited, but waiting on more information to see if it will be appropriate for the ages of my girls.

It is always nice to see that the local organizations offer homeschool programs! The other organization that I know does this, and we LOVE the classes there, is the Columbia Art League.

I'm wondering about the youzeum program since I've been disappointed in the youzeum and its offerings since they opened last year. I generally tend to look on mid-missouri family for ideas to do with my child, whom I also homeschool. I just wish we had something a lot more in tune with homeschool kids, that allowed for learning without specific instruction, something like Magic House, but here, ya know?

Mandy - The Magic House certainly is a unique experience! We are going to check out the homeschool program at the Youzeum, and I will let you know how it goes. We enjoy a lot of the art galleries in town. Not hands on, really, but certainly interesting and educational without instruction. Have you checked out the MU Muesuem of Art and Archaeology programs? We have not tried them yet, but they look very interesting. Not really without specific instruction probably, though. The University does have several programs throughout the year that we enjoy, such as the Vet School Open House. You just have to keep your eyes open. I have started keeping a calendar specific to events that happen that I want to take the kids to, both those that are appropriate for them now and those they won't be ready for until years down the road, so that I know when to look out for things in the years to come (like Bioblitz or the Heritage Festival).
There are also so many natural areas to explore here. There is so much value in exploring a creek or the life found in the woods!
Happy Homeschooling!
